The Legendary Sea Run Brown Trout Of Tierra Del Fuego
The Río Grande in Tierra del Fuego is one of the world’s most renowned destinations for sea run brown trout, combining exceptional fish with the wild landscapes of southern Patagonia.
These powerful trout average 7–9 lbs, with many fish exceeding 20 lbs and occasional giants reaching 30 lbs and beyond. Five IGFA World Records have been established in this fishery.
Anglers have access to 25 km of private water on the Río Grande and another 25 km on the Río Menéndez, creating an extraordinary variety of fishing environments and the opportunity to explore new water throughout the week.
The Río Grande offers broad pools and varied currents where fish can be targeted with swung flies, streamers and surface presentations, while the smaller Menéndez provides intimate channels and technical fishing with lighter tackle.
Fishing conditions change constantly with wind, light and water levels, demanding adaptability and careful reading of the river. The season runs from December through April, with colored males becoming increasingly common during March and April.
