Golden Dorado Alto Paraná
Plan Your Adventure

Where the Paraná Runs Clear

The Upper Paraná River in Corrientes offers a remarkable Golden Dorado fishery defined by clear water, powerful currents, rocky structure, sandbars, and jungle-lined banks. This section of the river provides an exceptional combination of technical fishing and opportunities for some of the largest Dorado found throughout the Paraná system.

The river’s structure is at the heart of the experience. Fast-flowing runs move across rocky formations, while submerged timber, cut banks, logjams, islands, and shallow sandbars create ideal ambush points for aggressive Golden Dorado. When sabalo baitfish gather along the sandbanks, anglers can experience spectacular surface action and highly visual sight-fishing opportunities.

Golden Dorado average between 5 and 20 pounds, with fish exceeding 30 pounds possible. The combination of clear water and varied structure allows anglers to target them with streamers on floating or sinking lines, wade productive sandbars, or swing large flies through the river’s rocky midstream areas.

The fishery is not limited to Dorado. Pirá Pitá and Pacú provide exciting alternatives on lighter tackle, with dry flies, fruit patterns, and smaller streamers. For anglers looking for an additional challenge, the Paraná Grand Slam—landing a Dorado, Pirá Pitá, and Pacú in a single day—is an exceptional goal.

Fishing takes place from custom-built skiffs and while wading, allowing anglers to experience the Paraná from different perspectives. Long days on the river are complemented by premium accommodation, attentive service, refined cuisine, and the extraordinary wildlife and jungle landscapes surrounding this remote stretch of northern Argentina.
